Our interview question of the week is: “Tell me about a goal you failed to achieve.”
Although this question seems harsh, it actually does a great job of evaluating how the candidate handles disappointment and failure. This also allows us to gauge when the candidate decides it is time to give up or accept something that didn’t work out and move on. A good response from a candidate would be if they discussed a huge goal they set for themselves, didn’t achieve it, but then took responsibility and learned from their experience. The candidate may also discuss what they would have done differently or what motivates them to continue to keep trying.
